Pack 608

Pine Wood Derby Guidelines

• Remember, no re-runs from previous years.

• The object is to have fun and cheer for your car and your friends’ cars

Registration/Weigh-In

* First, cars need to be weighed. Cars can’t exceed 5oz. You can add weights to your car to get as close as possible to 5oz. Weights and glue will be provided.

* After your car is weighed, it will be marked by a race official with a check-mark and your name (on the bottom with a magic marker)

* Once your car is checked, it must be given to a race official and you can’t handle your car again until after all the races are over…

Racing

* Once all the cars are weighed and turned in, racing will start. We will race according to Den (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelos). Bears and Wolves will be combined due to the number of Cubs. Each car will race at least twice.

*A race official will explain how the brackets will work. Boys Scouts from Troop 2 and Troop 104 will help administer the race and work as race officials (along with some Pack 608 parents)

*There will be winners for each Den and then a Pack race-off among all the Den winners to crown the overall Pack champion.

*Everyone will get a patch for participating. The overall winner will get a trophy which will be displayed with his name on it at school. All cars will be displayed at school as soon as a display case is available. Awards will also be given for the best/most original design and for workmanship.

*After official racing is over, the track will left open for a while so that siblings can run cars on the track. Cubs are of course invited to run their cars as many times as they want until the track is officially closed.
